Meet The Team

Dr. Renee Lezama-Driscoll
Veterinarian
Dr. Renee Lezama-Driscoll started the idea of Sapphire Vets as a housecall service alongside Dr. Leah Pouchet and Dr. Akua Mosi Pottinger in 2015.
By 2019, the business was registered as Sapphire Vets Ltd, by which time she had 4 staff members and a clinic under management where she added on a surgical site and in-house care for patients.
She has over 13 years of experience as a vet, however, as an empathic animal lover, she has been caring for sick dogs, chickens, cats, ducks, butterflies, birds, fish, turtles since childhood.
Her compassion shines though in her case management, and she's an astute director of business as well as surgery.
She's driven to ensure that her employees, clients and patients receive the best care possible.

Dr. Leah Pouchet
Veterinarian
Dr. Leah Pouchet started Sapphire Vets along with her friends, Dr. Lezama-Driscoll and Dr. Pottinger in 2015 while at the same time exploring the boundaries of alternative medicine with veterinary acupuncture.
She always had a love of animals, especially horses and was always seen caring for some animal from childhood.
Since then, she's applied her new acupuncture skills to a variety of species, along the way adding on Tui na massage (Chinese) and Chinese Herbal Medicine and Food Therapy to her list of accomplishments.
She's a free loving person, who loves traveling and doing housecalls, rotating time at our clinic and others, treating patients with acupuncture around Trinidad and occasionally Tobago.

Dr. Teneka Barcelo
Veterinarian
Dr. Teneka is the newest veterinarian on our team having joined us in August 2022 after working at the School of Veterinary Medicine in 2022.
She is an eager cat lover, although allergic, and takes extremely detailed reports and history in all her cases.
Her work in microscopy is the best in the clinic and her attention to detail is excellent.
We're happy to have her on our team, and so do all her patients.

Ashley David
Assistant/Receptionist
Ashley David joined Sapphire Vets Ltd in March 2023. She's the holder of a Diploma in Animal Production, Animal Health and Veterinary Public Health in 2022. Since joining, she rotates through a number of roles - from veterinary assistant to receptionist and groomer.
She loves learning new tasks and being hands-on with animals.
She hopes to become a veterinary surgeon one day also, but in the meantime, is forever striving upwards.
